Matthew and Kathryn first crossed paths at Purdue University, thanks to a mutual friend—Kathryn’s housemate and Matthew’s high school friend (shoutout Lauren Decker)! After a few years of friendship, Matthew decided to make his move, claiming he had his eye on Kathryn since her freshman year. Initially surprised by his persistent invitations for dates, Kathryn found herself making excuses to avoid them.

One weekend at Matthew’s lake house with their friend group, he went out of his way to prepare gluten-free meals just for Kathryn, which sparked her interest. After many hangouts, themed parties, study sessions, and a trip to Fort Wayne to visit her, Kathryn decided to invite Matthew to be her date for the barn dance. Shortly after the barn dance, and navigating some questions about “what we are,” Matthew asked Kathryn to officially be his girlfriend.

From their very first dates, Matthew and Kathryn quickly recognized the connection they shared and the joy they found in each other's company. After nearly two years together, Matthew proposed, and they're thrilled to begin their journey as a married couple this May!
